Steeldeck® helped create the exquisite ‘Mansion at Hudson Yards’ housing an Off-Broadway, immersive theatrical production that tells the story of the iconic, revolutionary fashion designer Alexander McQueen. Producers Rick Lazes & Gary McQueen made the epic decision to build a theatre from the ground up (the first new theatre built in Manhattan for 20 years) to pay homage to McQueen’s legacy. The Aurora Productions team created an intricate stage design which filled the space to the brim with Steeldeck® platforms, creating an intimate 500 seat theatre. The seating riser has 3 egress tunnels to allow for audience flow and straddles into the existing studios balcony to maximize capacity.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and your team at Steel Deck for the amazing job that you have done building the seating platforms for the Mansion Theater located on 37th. St. in Hudson Yards. This build out was a complicated and difficult project that involved strategic cooperation with engineers and the City’s code enforcement department to ensure that the structure would meet all building codes and be safe for 500 people to sit on. It was a pleasure working with you and your execution was on time and on budget.
